Richard
Ryu, M.D., Team Physician
For over a decade, Dr. Richard Ryu has served as team physician
for the Santa Barbara High School Dons. His education and training
include many years at Yale, UC San Francisco and Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic
Clinic. Dr. Ryu specializes in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopic
Surgery. He is on the Board of Directors for the Arthroscopy Association
of North America as the Council of Delegates for the
American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine. Dr. Ryu is the
author of over fifty scientific publications and also provides
care for the UCSB Gauchos, Westmont Warriors and the Santa Barbara
Foresters. |

Graham Hurvitz,
M.D., Team Physician
As a native of Southern California, Dr. Hurvitz completed his undergraduate
education at the University of Southern California, Medical School
at St. Louis University and Orthopedic Surgical Residency at the
University of Southern California. Upon completion of his orthopedic
training, Dr. Hurvitz joined Dr. Richard Ryu in practice in Santa
Barbara, California in July 2002. His practice involves the treatment
of musculoskeletal trauma, and osteoarthritis.
He continues to serve as the team physician for the Santa Barbara
High School Dons
as well as continuing to provide care for the University
of California Santa
Barbara Gauchos, Westmont Warriors, and Santa
Barbara Foresters. |

Char Vandaele, MS, ATC, LMT;
Athletic Trainer
Char is in her third year as our athletic trainer. She was born in
Santa Barbara, but she was raised in Idaho for the most part. Her education
includes graduate work at Indiana University. Before joining us at
Santa Barbara High School, Char was part of the athletic training staff
at UCSB. Char will be working with our athletes on prevention and treatment
of injuries. Our athletes and staff are fortunate to have Char’s
expertise as an athletic trainer. |
